[[Regulus|Regulus/Home]] -----  ## Almanac of Etheria 3022 PR ### Core Concepts #### Regulus The central star system of Etheria (known Etheric Space). It contains one planetary body: Regulus Prime and multitudes of orbital stations/moons around it known as Havens. Regulus Prime is the sole source of Crystalle, an energy matrix crystal that powers all modern technology. It is also home to a being of energy that exists planet-wide which calls itself God. #### Etheria 3022 The map of known Worlds in the Etheric Space. Etheric Space is energized in a manner that allows Folding to any location within it, but not outside it. There are 22 Worlds in the Empire, 11 in the core (green circle at center) and 11 in the rim (red spaces around the core). In addition, 50 'lesser' Worlds exist that are not part of the Empire. The @ symbol at the center is the location of Regulus. #### God An energy being of immense power, existing as a waveform inside the crystal structures that dominate the inner surface of Regulus Prime. It generates Etheric Space, and has only just begun in the last thirty centuries to understand humanity by Communion. The mining of Crystalle by Control is welcomed by God, as it is a waste production of its natural processes. The mining is much more efficient for it than how it deals with the waste naturally. This makes the energy production for humanity a symbiotic relationship with the entity. The depleted crystals are returned to it, and are converted back to Crystalle in an endless cycle. #### Control While the Empire rules the 72 Worlds of humanity, Control rules the Regulus system itself, and much of the infrastructure humanity depends upon. Control is an elected assembly of people who do the bidding of God via the Director, one person in charge of Control chosen by God. Control will at times submit to the authority of the Empire over their populace, but operates as a partner and is independent of Empire mandates & authority. #### Empire The Empire is a republic of 22 Worlds, where each 5 cycles a standard Assembly vote is made for the seat of the Empire, the result of which is transfer of most Empire control to one of the Worlds and it's Steward. Each World has a vote in the Assembly, and for the last 50 votes each time Chytri of the Union 'Solar Nexus Constortium' SNC has taken the vote. This has led to an amassing of power for SNC and Chytri, which in turn has begun a budding Rebellion against the Empire. #### Network A powerful, large criminal Syndicate operating within Control and the Empire. Crews of Operatives run Jobs for clients profits and standing. Each player character in Regulus is a Network Operative and together the group of players form one Crew. Jobs vary widely, from the smallest forgery tasks of Empire accounting to the theft of mined Crystalle from Regulus. #### Humanity People live in luxury we can hardly imagine in our time. War is constant and wildly efficient, but the idea of killing population has long since been purged from the goal. Now wars are always about lavish wealth, standing within the Empire, and so on. So this isn't a grim setting, but that said things are getting a little more intense with the budding growth of the Rebellion and their desire to see the Empire be rebuilt at any cost. #### Technology The technology of humanity has really gotten quite advanced. The ideas of computers and internet are built directly into people themselves. At a few years old everyone has their Port installed, a small round valve about the size of a dime (16mm), which allows ACE to be added or removed to their cranial cavity. Then they are given their first CAP, which installs the 'Net Node into their system and the though barrier is built that prevent direct brain connection to the 'Net (direct connection is always fatal to the human). In this way every person is a part of the global 'Net, always connected to it via Etheric Radio. For more secure communication, short-range line of site wireless connections are possible using a radio system that is known as Wire. Medicine is most just direct application or Port injection of BioFire CAP, and most all injury and disease can be cured this way. Doctors still exist that master the different forms of BioFire, but don't do anything like surgery we know today. At the age of 33, the treatments begin. Take yearly they extend life, and normal aging won't occur until the treatments fail and they always do fail. Normally that takes 200-240 years, after which normal aging occurs. With the advanced medicine of the times death will still be 100 or more years off. Since life is so long, most people that don't die from old age either Find Peace or are murdered. Deciding to not go on living is called Finding Peace and not a shunned idea in this society. Crystalle really does power everything, and the idea of single purpose tools is something long abandoned as a general rule. You'll find people still have the basic utility functional objects, chairs, tables, beds, etc. But going into a kitchen you won't find a coffee maker, oven, and so on. Plates, glasses, and cutlery in various styles sure. Bathrooms and sinks and so on too, consider the utility functional general rule. So what replaces all that single purpose stuff? Automata. These are synthetic beings that pretty much look like people, except the skin is a strange artificial leather in inhuman colors. They have some intelligence, and are 'Net nodes too, but aren't going to carry a conversation at the bar well. Sometimes though an Automata -they are called Autos for short does get smart. That's a problem and usual that one gets others together and you have a Pirate situation or a Gang or so on. The Empire has strict rules (bounties) for making sure those get taken care of in a timely manner. But still, how do your get your cup of coffee in the morning? Automation. All places of any size have rooms known as Automation in which ACE field exist. Humans can't survive in these, but Autos can, and they use them to produce all kinds of whatever you need. You wake up, go to the CommunoTab/Tab (tablet) in your room, and order your drink. It'll be delivered as you like by Auto, hand to hand, or through delivery slots in your room. And there still remains a way to move your money (Holocred, or Holo) about. CommunoCards/Cards (a little smaller than modern credit cards) can be encoded with money, messages, etc etc. They only work using the Wire (line of sight wireless), and for really secure options can be set to touch range only, having to be held to a person's Port or other 'Terminal' type thing to exchange data. Other than that, you have Daysuits which are space grade protection suits that last 24 hours without needing recharge, SUVs are Space Utility Vehicles to get you around both on planet or in space, really just flying cars that operate via advanced 'Net code normally but can be manually controlled if needed. #### Society Society is pretty crazy, as with the advanced tech people are quite into body hacking. Though there is a strong central 'purest' movement against the idea as well. Automata is so massive that people don't actually have jobs in the sense of what we know today. Instead people find their hobbies and live out their days in what we would mostly consider bliss. However there are always people that want more, and these people usually join the Empire or Control in some capacity. For these people money does start to become a thing, as one of the costly things in Etheria is travel across Worlds. Most people live out their entire life on one World. There isn't much banned or controlled, except World by World, however up until Empress Asta of Chytri gaming as in gambling was outlawed with serious fines and loss of title. 250 cycles ago when Empress Asta took control of the Empire she immediately revoked those laws. Since then the game [[Fives|Regulus/Fives, the game]] has taken the Empire by storm.
